- The unreality of form; the doctrine that phenomena have no reality in themselves, in contrast with that of Hīnayāna which only held that the ego had no reality.* * *謂一切諸法之性, 自他共離之相皆空, 是為相空。 (一切性者, 即自他共離之四性也。 謂如計一念心從根生即自性, 從塵生即他性, 根塵合生即共性, 離根塵生即離性, 於此四性之相, 皆不執著, 是名皆空。 )* * *一切法都有性和相的兩方面, 性方面的空無叫做性空, 相方面的空無即叫做相空。
